A seminar for literary translators from Estonian into Finnish and vice versa was held 14 to 19 June, starting in Käsmu and ending up in Helsinki. Ten translators from both sides plus two Latvian translators working both with Estonian and Finnish literature had been selected to participate at this top-up course. The seminar involved lectures on language and literature as well as practical workshops on translating modern prose, classical prose and drama. The participants met publishers and writers on both sides of the Gulf of Finland. The seminar was organised by FILI and ELIC in co-operation with Tuglas Seura and the Finnish Institute in Tallinn. We thank our financial contributors: EU Cultural Program (Koulutuksen ja kulttuurin PO), the Estonian Cultural Endowment, Literature Across Frontiers, Estonian Embassy in Finland, Finnish Institute in Tallinn.
